The Xinet WebNative Suite allows you to search for, view, download, upload, proof, and repurpose images and documents stored on your file server from any web browser.
The newly released Xinet WebNative Suite 16.0 is an integrated, single product composed of many of the features previously available in our core products—FullPress¨, WebNative, Venture and Portal. An all new graphical user interface (GUI), simplified for both aesthetics and usability, offers greater efficiency to adminis-trators. New features, along with numerous enhancements to existing features, provide flexibility and more options to customers.
A Single Web-based GUI
WebNative Suite showcases a brand new graphical user interface that consolidates all control of a WebNative server into one place. Accessible through an Internet browser, this new GUI has been designed to:
Provide greater consistency of controls, icons and presentation across all areas of administration
Simplify administration and provide a more efficient and streamlined view of server activity, which is particularly useful for large sites with many administrators and multiple locations.
Monitor the configuration and status of all active WebNative Portal servers.
Some notable changes in the WebNative Suite GUI include overviews of the database, volumes, print queues and printing jobs; hyperlinks to files and folders on the server throughout the logs and configuration windows; drag-and-drop data field re-ordering in templates; actions that can be grouped for a set of users; and hot folders that can run customized scripts.
Improved Tools for Administration
Automatic checks and repairs of database tables with a new log
Access to preview generation logs for Microsoft® Office, Adobe® InDesign®, PDF and QuarkXPress® documents
An overview of image and document preview creation
A configurable rotation of all access logs
Reporting of missing indexes in the database
Accessibility to all logs from one location
Viewable status of all Xinet processes
Annotations
A standard feature within the Portal component of WebNative Suite, annotations speeds the approval process by providing an online method for authorized WebNative users—local or remote—to add visual comments to documents during the review process. Annotations can be made as text, lines, or stamps, and are stored in the database, visible only to users who have permission to view them.
Actions Triggered from Adobe Applications
By changing IPTC and XMP metadata field values in the File Info panel of Adobe applications, users can trigger “actions” that have been established in WebNative Suite.
Asset Browser
A standard feature within the Portal component of WebNative Suite, Asset Browser is a Mini Web browser from which users can quickly search for and place assets from a WebNative Portal site to an InDesign document. Users can also place and format the metadata associated with assets when the WebNative Portal site is configured to work with a script on the WebNative server.
Unique PDF Image Replacement Print Queue
This new, preconfigured PDF print queue has been added to the existing list of print queues to streamline PDF Image Replacement workflows.
Global WebNative Volumes
Any volume that needs to be available to all existing and future WebNative users can be set up as a “global” volume in WebNative Suite. The global volume setting is available when making new volumes or editing existing volumes. This feature eliminates the need to continually update the list of users for public volumes.
ICC Profiles for Web Previews
Administrators can choose to have Web previews color managed and include ICC profiles, allowing users who connect through a browser to get images color-corrected based on their monitor’s color profile. Administrators can also choose to continue to generate previews in the Web-standard sRGB space.
Custom Icons for the Uploader Application
Versions of the Uploader application with custom application icons can be generated and sent to customers.
Previews for Additional Document Types
Previews of Microsoft Office 2007 and 2008 documents and OpenOffice 3.1 documents have been added to the list of supported file types.
Upgraded Database
The database has been upgraded to MySQL 5.1, which improves full-text index creation, allowing for faster, more efficient database searching.
Automatic XMP Field Creation
Data fields defined in custom XMP panels can be automatically added to the database with parameters specified by an administrator. These data fields can also be grouped together into a “Data Field Set” for easier admin-istration. This makes sharing of metadata schema across multiple sites much easier.
Custom Data Field Names
Data field names can be customized so they don’t have to be displayed with the field name used in the database.
Default Download Compression Option
WebNative Suite administrators can establish a default compression option on a per-user basis.
