Archiware

Integrated data management and security

Multi-platform synchronization, backup, and archiving

With exponential data growth, strict requirements for legal compliance, shrinking windows of time for backups, and the need for your employees, partners, and customers to access data at any time from anywhere, enterprises need better ways to manage and secure their data.

Archiware P5 Backup

Back up server data to disk or tape, and back up and restore across platforms on Mac, Linux, Windows, and Solaris systems. P5 Backup is browser-based and allows for easy configuration, administration, and monitoring regardless of your location.

  • Maximum security—Get maximum data security with advanced features that prevent and correct tape or driver errors.
  • Backup clone—Automatically create a backup clone on a second tape for offsite storage/disaster prevention.
  • Interruptable backup—P5 Backup can be interrupted at any time— the backup process will continue automatically from the point where it had stopped.
  • Encryption options—Protect your data with encryption based on individual files and connections.
  • Maximum performance—Get parallelization without limit thanks to support for multiple drives, tasks, and clients running simultaneously.
  • Quick restore—P5's block-direct positioning allows for fast restore because no sequential seeking takes place on the medium.
  • Platform independence—P5 Backup transfers data in a neutral format while maintaining platform-specific information, so you cansave heterogeneous networks with one backup solution.
  • Scalable and modular design—Add other Archiware P5 products, hardware, media, and more smoothly and easily to meet your changing requirements.

Archiware P5 Archive

This long-term storage solution moves data offline to disk and tape, and it works on Mac, Linux, Windows, and Solaris systems. Restore data on any platform. P5 Archive is browser-based and allows for easy configuration, administration, and monitoring regardless of your location.

  • Unparalleled security—Get maximum security with data cloning, encryption options that protect against non-authorized access, and features that prevent and correct tape or driver errors.
  • Data migration—Free up expensive storage space and reduce your backup times and the power usage. By relieving network traffic, you get a better working experience and increased productivity.
  • Simple, user-friendly search—Get quick access to your files with a metadata-driven solution and previews of QuickTime formats like MPEG4, PDF, and MXF that simplify the archive search.
  • Customer integration—Use configurable login areas for restricted or direct access to (selected) parts of the archive.
  • Platform independence—P5 Archive transfers data in a neutral format while maintaining platform-specific information, so you cansave heterogeneous networks with one backup solution.
  • Scalable and modular design—Add other Archiware P5 products, hardware, media, and more smoothly and easily to meet your changing requirements.

MediaLTFS for LTO tape transport

Export P5 Archive data to LTFS formatted LTO tapes using the P5 Mac OS X utility, MediaLTFS. With MediaLTFS, you can:

  • Easily manage LTFS tapes from a Mac.
  • Prepare LTO5 and LTO6 tapes for use by labeling.
  • Mount LTFS tapes and have them appear as “volumes” on the desktop that you can treat like a regular mounted disk or volume.
  • Drag to and from mounted LTFS tape volumes.
  • Read and write to or from the tape.

By using MediaLTFS in conjunction with P5, you can also manage LTFS tapes from within the P5 web-admin interface in the following ways:

  • Create media pools for managing groups of LTFS tapes.
  • Automatically label multiple tapes within a tape library.
  • Use the LTFS tape pool as a restore location for archive data.
  • Export Archiware archive data to LTFS (two tape drives needed).
  • Coming soon: Perform direct archiving (expected in early 2014).

Archiware P5 Synchronize

This browser-based solution identifies modified data on one system and copies it to additional systems, providing a replica of live storage so there’s no need for a time-consuming restoration process in the event of data loss.

  • Increasing data security—By automatically recognizing and copying all modified files to another system, P5 Synchronize reduces the time between modification and backup to increase security.
  • Maximum availability—Synchronized files are immediately available in the event of a system failure. No restore is required, so even a complete server loss has minimal impact.
  • Filters—Use filters to synchronize only selected files. For example, exclude MP3 files from sync.
  • Version management—Keep multiple versions of files as they change over time.
  • Efficient employment of resources—Identical files are replaced by links to already existing files. Snapshots and hard links enable efficient use of storage capacities.
  • Incremental synchronization—You can choose to copy only new and modified files, further reducing the required disk space.
  • Worldwide data distribution—Data is automatically distributed to different locations all over the world, so you can provide subsidiaries, agencies, or partners with a clone of your data set.
  • Data migration—Migrate data—even between heterogeneous systems—within the shortest possible time frame. After synchronization, files are deleted automatically from the source.

Archiware P5 Backup2Go

This solution enables reliable, secure, and efficient backup of valuable data on laptops—regardless of the laptop owner’s location.

  • Efficient client-triggered backup—Rather than managing laptop and desktop backup via a server process, which creates server load and network traffic, Backup2Go lets the laptop initiate its own backup as soon as a server connection is established.
  • Full backup, even with interruptions—If a workstation or laptop is shut down or loses its network connection, the backup process resumes automatically as soon as it’s online again. Incomplete backups are fully functional.
  • Flexible backup jobs—Even if a laptop or workstation is unable to establish a connection to the server for a long period of time, backup will begin as soon as access becomes available.
  • Maximum automation with minimal work—Install and configure the solution within minutes. Workstation templates allow administrators to define and customize backup for any given workstation or groups of workstations, so scaling is effortless.
  • Simple, fast restore—An intuitive, browser-based interface lets you restore files with a few mouse clicks. Administrators can allow workstation users to restore their own data if desired.
  • A time machine for your data—Maintain a complete history of a Mac or Windows workstation's backups. The backup index is a simple timeline, and you can view a file’s history and retrieve a version backed up days, weeks, or months before.
  • Central control—Administrators can allow users to configure their own backup, or they can override a user's parameters with a workstation template defined on the server.
  • Incremental backup—Since files are continuously backed up, even during long out-of-office periods, the volume of data for each backup increment remains small so network and server loads are kept to a minimum.
  • Seamless solution—P5 Backup2Go runs seamlessly in the background while you work. Administrators can determine network bandwidth based on individual priorities and/or work being saved.
  • Encryption and management of privileges—Files can be encrypted while being transferred over a network and/or at point of storage. Backup2Go also backs up access rights and file ACLs to protect against unauthorized access after restore. Access to view a workstation's index of saved files is managed via group-based rights.
